OREGON

One of the most amazing trips we’ve ever taken- hands down!!! It was chilly and rainy most of the time, but we didn’t even care.  We flew into Portland, got our rental and immediately headed for Multnomah Falls.  We spent the morning there and had lunch at the restaurant at the foot of the falls.  We later decided we’d hike to the top at some point during our stay- and we did.

From there we headed up north.  We crossed the same bridge Reese Witherspoon crossed in the movie WILD.  And we were in Washington for a minute.  (We put Washington on our bucket list.)  We drove up and around to Astoria— Hello!  Yes- from the movie GOONIES!  This town is breathtaking.   I could have spent a whole day exploring there, but settled for some wine and snack and watched the ships in port at a place called #winecraft.

We made it to Canon Beach with a second to spare before sunset.. Photographers, a hundred of them were lined up waiting for the right second and sprinted into place to catch the sunset.  It wasn’t the best sunset, but it was still pretty.  After we went to dinner at the The Wayfarer Restaurant and Lounge.  The food– Oh So Good!  The day was done so we settled into our room for the night.

The next day we spent visiting all the beached down the coast.  The sun graced us with it’s presence in the afternoon, and it was perfect for agate hunting.   After a long day of being beach bums, we found our hotel and a quick bite to eat and turned in… Tomorrow we hike!

We stopped at a farmers market in Newport and got some roadtrip snacks.  Probably one of the best markets I have ever seen. We were heading inland to Silver Falls State Park (http://oregonstateparks.org/index.cfm?do=parkPage.dsp_parkPage&parkId=151) to get our hike on.  We hiked the more than seven mile loop of waterfalls in a slow rain.  It was breathtaking, rain and all.  Each waterfall was breathtaking. Even the smaller ones. (I need to locate some of the photos of the waterfalls- so stay tuned for those.)  We stayed onsite in a quaint little cabin.  I’d go there again if I could; no internet means no work!

Our last full day we spent hiking Multnomah.  Biggest hiking challenge of the trip, and we did it.  Once it was done we limped it to our hotel, relaxed, had a snack and chose a nice oceanfront seafood place for dinner- CRAB LEGS!

The dinner was a perfect ending to our trip.  We enjoyed a relaxing dinner, great views, amazing food and talked about all the things we’d do when we came back.
